Our History and pride for where we come from.

The store was first opened by John and Edith Richardson in 1953 to share their love of baking with the local community. Their ethos is at the heart of everything we do. We have been serving the people of Melton delicious loaves, tasty buns and sweet delicacies to brighten your day for the past 69 years.

We have a small but dedicated team, trained to use traditional methods and recipes passed down from generation to generation. If you want that taste of how your parents used to make it, our bakery is the place to come.

Melton may be a small town, but it's filled with character and history, and we like to think of ourselves as the same. Times haven't been easy for traditional stores like ourselves, but we believe in the value of the high street. There is nothing like visiting an actual store, smelling the fresh dough, and chatting with our friendly staff. Where else can you catch up on the local gossip whilst getting your favourite loaf?

Our Taste and who we are.

We don't overcomplicate. We use the best local ingredients; we bake with care. It's how we have always done things. A lot has changed over the last 69 years, but our commitment to creating baked goods of the finest quality hasn't. This website is part of our mission to connect to new audiences, who we hope will visit our wonderful store. Whilst this has been given a modern design to help achieve this goal. We have also stayed true to our brand's roots.

The use of lavender, gold and delicious caramel throughout the site reflects the colours Edith and John originally chose for their brand. This is because of their associations with luxury, and their overall mission was to bring luxury quality to everyday people. The Logo also reflects this history and whilst digitally remastered has not changed in 69 years.
